Privacy Policy

Effective date: 7 October 2026

Last updated: 7 October 2026

Grant Stevens-Wade (WordSee, we, us or our) provides the WordSee mobile application (the App) on iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the App, why it is used, who receives it, and the choices available to you.

For data-protection purposes, Grant Stevens-Wade is the controller of the personal data described in this policy, except where Apple, Google or another service acts as an independent controller under its own privacy terms.

1. Information we collect

Profile and account information

When you first use WordSee, the App creates a pseudonymous Firebase account and assigns it an internal account identifier. You choose a username. We do not require an email address, phone number or real name to create a WordSee profile.

Your username is public when it appears with scores or completion times on WordSee leaderboards. Do not use your real name or include other personal information in your username if you do not want it to be public.

The App stores authentication credentials on your device so that it can reconnect to your profile. These credentials are not displayed publicly.

Game, preferences and device data

We process information needed to save and operate the game, which may include:

  • completed and attempted puzzles, completion times, scores and leaderboard positions;
  • progress, streak history, hints, rewards, replay entitlements and other virtual-item balances;
  • onboarding and game-state information;
  • subscription or purchase entitlement status;
  • settings such as audio, visual-theme and notification preferences;
  • first and last open dates, open count and similar operational statistics;
  • device model, operating system, App version and technical status; and
  • offline actions waiting to be synchronised.

Some of this information is stored locally on your device and some is synchronised with our Firebase-hosted services so that we can provide your account, progress and leaderboard features.

We also use Unity Diagnostics, provided by Unity Technologies, to receive crash reports, error reports and technical diagnostic information from supported app builds. This may include an installation-specific identifier and technical information about the App and device needed to investigate crashes and stability problems. We use this information to maintain App stability, diagnose failures and improve performance. Unity processes this information on our behalf as a service provider.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple or Google processes your payments. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details. We may receive and process product identifiers, transaction or receipt information, purchase status, subscription status, price/currency information and refund or restoration status to provide purchased features, prevent duplicate grants, support restoration and resolve purchase problems.

Apple and Google retain and process transaction information under their own privacy policies.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the App is used and to improve its reliability, design and features. Analytics measurement starts automatically in supported builds.

Firebase Analytics may automatically collect or derive information including:

  • a pseudonymous app-instance identifier assigned to an installation of the App;
  • App launches, sessions, screen views and engagement;
  • App version and platform;
  • device model, operating-system version, language and general device information;
  • approximate geographic area derived from a masked internet-protocol address;
  • purchase and subscription events; and
  • technical information about delivery of analytics events.

WordSee also sends selected gameplay and product-interaction events, such as onboarding progress, puzzle selection and completion, completion time, hints used, settings actions, notification interactions, sharing-button presses, shop interactions, purchase outcomes, leaderboard or statistics views, and content-load failures.

We do not send your chosen username, email address, Firebase account identifier, authentication token or the content or recipient of a share to Firebase Analytics as custom event metadata. We do not set a WordSee account ID as the Google Analytics User-ID. Analytics data is therefore pseudonymous rather than guaranteed to be anonymous.

We configure Firebase advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation as denied. We do not use WordSee analytics for targeted advertising and do not sell analytics data.

Google processes analytics information for us under its applicable terms. More information is available in Google's description of Analytics data collection and Firebase privacy and security information.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, the App uses the notification facilities provided by your device and operating system to schedule gameplay reminders. We store your notification preference and may record whether a notification permission prompt or notification entry point was used. You can disable notifications at any time in the App or your device settings.

Sharing and contacting us

If you press a sharing button, the App passes the result image or text to your device's share sheet. WordSee may record that the share button was pressed, but does not receive the destination, recipient or message you ultimately choose through the share sheet. The service you select to share with processes the content under its own privacy policy.

If you contact us, we process the contact details, message and any information you choose to provide so that we can respond and keep an appropriate support record.

2. How and why we use information

We use information to:

  • create and authenticate your pseudonymous profile;
  • save and synchronise progress, settings, rewards and entitlements;
  • operate public leaderboards and show your scores or completion times under your chosen username;
  • provide purchases and subscriptions and restore valid entitlements;
  • provide offline functionality and synchronise queued actions;
  • deliver notifications you enable;
  • detect cheating, fraud, abuse, duplicated transactions and security problems;
  • diagnose failures and maintain the availability of the App and its backend services;
  • understand feature use and improve gameplay, usability and performance;
  • respond to support, privacy and deletion requests; and
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

Where UK or European data-protection law applies, we rely on:

  • performance of a contract to provide the profile, game, leaderboard and purchased features you request;
  • legitimate interests in securing, maintaining, analysing and improving WordSee, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights;
  • consent where applicable law requires it, including for optional device permissions; and
  • legal obligations where we must retain or disclose information under law.

You may object to processing based on legitimate interests by contacting us. We will consider your request and stop the processing unless we have a compelling lawful reason to continue.

3. When information is shared

We do not sell your personal data and do not share it with third parties for their own direct marketing.

We disclose information only as needed to the following recipients:

  • Google Firebase and Google Analytics provide pseudonymous authentication, cloud-hosted game services, leaderboards, server functions and usage analytics.
  • Unity Technologies and Unity Cloud provide crash, error and technical diagnostics services for the App. Unity processes this information on our behalf under its applicable terms and data-processing arrangements.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play distribute the App and process purchases, subscriptions, restoration and refunds.
  • Infrastructure and technical service providers may process limited information on our behalf to host, secure, maintain or support the App.
  • A sharing service chosen by you receives content only after you deliberately select it through your device's share sheet.
  • Authorities, professional advisers or a successor operator may receive information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, establish or defend legal rights, investigate misuse, protect users, or transfer WordSee as part of a sale or reorganisation. Any successor must continue to handle personal data in accordance with applicable law.

Your chosen username and associated scores or completion times are disclosed publicly through leaderboards by design.

Third-party services may also process service and device information under their own terms. Relevant policies include the Google Privacy Policy, Apple Privacy Policy and Google Play privacy information.

4. International transfers

Our service providers, including Google, may process information in countries outside the country where you live. Where required, we and our processors use recognised safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections. You can contact us for more information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

5. How long we keep information

We keep profile and game data while your WordSee account remains active so that we can provide the App. If you delete your account, we request removal of the active Firebase Authentication account, cloud profile and associated leaderboard records controlled by WordSee.

Some information may remain temporarily in encrypted backups, security logs or queued systems until those systems complete their normal deletion cycle. We may retain limited records for longer where necessary to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or demonstrate that a deletion or transaction was handled correctly. We minimise those records and do not use them to continue ordinary gameplay profiling.

Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention controls configured for the WordSee Analytics property. Aggregated reports that no longer identify an App installation may remain after underlying event-level data expires or an account is deleted. Because WordSee does not send your Firebase account ID to Analytics, deleting a WordSee profile does not automatically identify and delete the separate pseudonymous Analytics installation record. You may reset that record by uninstalling and reinstalling the App; you may also contact us about an Analytics-related privacy request.

Unity states that personal data processed by its Diagnostics service is retained for 90 days by default. We may retain limited internal records for longer where necessary to handle support requests, security issues, legal obligations or deletion requests.

Apple and Google retain store transaction records according to their own legal obligations and retention policies. Deleting your WordSee account does not delete records controlled independently by an app store and does not cancel an active subscription.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect information, including encrypted network connections, authenticated service requests, access controls and encrypted local storage for sensitive account credentials. No internet or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices and rights

You can:

  • change App preferences and notification settings in the App or your device settings;
  • choose whether to share a generated result through your device's share sheet;
  • delete your WordSee account and associated active game data using the in-app deletion control;
  • request access to, correction of, or a copy of your personal data;
  • request deletion or restriction of processing;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests; and
  • withdraw consent for future processing where processing is based on consent.

You may request access to or deletion of diagnostic data associated with your installation by contacting us at the email address below. Where necessary, we will submit the request through Unity’s diagnostic-data process.

These rights depend on the law where you live and may have limited exceptions. To make a request, email gstevenswade93@hotmail.com. We may need information sufficient to locate your pseudonymous account and verify that the request relates to you.

Deleting the App from your device alone does not necessarily delete the cloud profile. Use the in-app account-deletion control or contact us. Account deletion also does not cancel an Apple or Google subscription; cancel it separately through the relevant store account.

If you are in the United Kingdom, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. If you are in the European Economic Area, you may complain to the data-protection authority where you live or work. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.

8. Children

WordSee is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data contrary to this policy, contact us and we will investigate and take appropriate action.

Parents and guardians should consider that usernames and scores can be visible on public leaderboards and should help younger players choose a non-identifying username.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, our service providers or legal requirements change. We will post the updated policy, change the date above and provide additional notice in the App where a change materially affects your privacy rights or where law requires it.

Terms of Service

Effective date: 22 August 2026

Last updated: 22 August 2026

These Terms of Service (the Terms) govern your use of the WordSee mobile application (the App), provided by Grant Stevens-Wade (WordSee, we, us or our).

By downloading, accessing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Who may use WordSee

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If the law where you live requires you to be older before you can agree to these Terms, a parent or legal guardian must agree on your behalf.

You may use the App only for personal, non-commercial entertainment and in accordance with applicable law.

2. Your WordSee profile

WordSee creates a pseudonymous account so that it can save your progress and provide features such as leaderboards. You choose a public username; you are not required to provide an email address or phone number to create this account.

You are responsible for activity associated with your profile and for keeping your device secure. Do not choose a username that is unlawful, impersonates another person, infringes another person's rights, or is offensive, abusive or otherwise inappropriate. We may change or remove a username, remove leaderboard entries, or restrict access where reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, or operate the App safely.

3. Licence and acceptable use

We grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App on a compatible device for its intended purpose, subject to these Terms and the applicable app-store rules.

You must not:

  • cheat, automate play, manipulate scores, exploit bugs, falsify purchases, or otherwise obtain rewards or leaderboard positions unfairly;
  • access or attempt to access another person's profile;
  • interfere with the App, its servers, security controls, purchases, leaderboards or other users' enjoyment of the App;
  • reverse engineer, copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent or sublicense the App except where applicable law expressly permits this;
  • use the App or its content for an unlawful, fraudulent, abusive or harmful purpose; or
  • introduce malware, excessive automated requests, or any other material that may damage or disrupt the App or its services.

4. Scores, leaderboards and game data

The App may store puzzle progress, completion times, scores, streaks, rewards, settings and related game data. Your chosen username and scores or times may be visible to other players on public leaderboards.

We may correct or remove scores, rewards, progress or leaderboard entries that are invalid, duplicated, corrupted, obtained through cheating, or caused by a technical error. We will not deliberately remove legitimately purchased content without a valid reason or any remedy required by law.

Offline play may be available for some features. Data created offline may be queued and synchronised when the App next connects to the internet. Features that depend on current server data, purchases or leaderboards may be unavailable offline.

5. Purchases, subscriptions and virtual items

The App may offer subscriptions and consumable or non-consumable in-app purchases, including virtual items such as hints, replay tokens, streak shields or reward packs. The exact product, price, duration and included benefits are shown in the App before purchase.

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play. Their payment and refund terms also apply. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through your Apple or Google account before the renewal date. Deleting the App or deleting your WordSee profile does not automatically cancel an app-store subscription. You must manage or cancel it through the store account used to purchase it.

Virtual items:

  • have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money;
  • are personal to your WordSee profile and cannot be transferred or sold;
  • may be subject to limits and rules described in the App; and
  • may be restored, corrected or removed where a grant or transaction was duplicated, reversed, refunded, fraudulent or made in error.

Nothing in these Terms limits refund, cancellation or other consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. For store-processed refunds, contact Apple or Google through the store used for the purchase.

6. Sharing

The App may let you generate and share a result image or message using your device's sharing tools. You decide whether to share and which external service or recipient receives it. You are responsible for the material you choose to share and for complying with the destination service's terms.

7. Intellectual property

The App and its original software, artwork, design, text, puzzles, branding and other content are owned by or licensed to Grant Stevens-Wade and are protected by intellectual-property law. Except for the limited licence in section 3, no rights are transferred to you.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, you allow us to use them without restriction or payment, but you remain the owner of any rights you already hold in your feedback.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep WordSee available and functioning, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access. We may maintain, update, change, suspend or discontinue features where reasonably necessary for security, legal, technical or product reasons.

Updates may be required to continue using online features. Internet access, compatible hardware and a supported operating system may also be required, and your network provider may charge you for data use.

9. Suspension, termination and account deletion

We may suspend or terminate access, or remove affected content, where we reasonably believe you have materially or repeatedly breached these Terms, created a security risk, acted unlawfully, or abused the App or other users. Where appropriate, we will take proportionate action.

You may stop using the App at any time. You can request deletion of your WordSee profile and associated game data through the in-app account-deletion control or by emailing gstevenswade93@hotmail.com. Account deletion is described further in the WordSee Privacy Policy.

Deleting your WordSee profile does not cancel subscriptions and does not require Apple or Google to delete transaction records they control.

10. Third-party services

WordSee relies on services supplied by third parties, including Google Firebase, Apple, Google Play and device sharing or notification services. Their own terms and privacy policies may apply to their services. We are not responsible for a third-party service beyond the extent required by applicable law.

11. Disclaimers and liability

The App is provided on an as available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude warranties that are not expressly stated in these Terms.

We do not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you agreed to these Terms, losses caused by events outside our reasonable control, or business losses arising from personal use of the App.

Nothing in these Terms affects mandatory consumer rights available to you under the law where you live.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the App, our services, applicable law or security requirements. We will publish the updated Terms and change the date above. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide reasonable notice in the App or by another appropriate method where required.

If you continue to use the App after updated Terms take effect, you agree to the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the App.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of any mandatory protection provided by the law of the country where you live, and you may be able to bring proceedings in your local courts.

14. Contact

For questions about these Terms, contact:

WordSee Account Deletion

You can delete your WordSee account and associated game data using the account-deletion control in the App. If you cannot access the App, email gstevenswade93@hotmail.com from the address you want us to use for the request and include your WordSee username if known.

When we process a deletion request, we request removal of the active Firebase Authentication account, cloud profile and associated leaderboard records controlled by WordSee. Some limited information may remain temporarily in encrypted backups, security logs or queued systems until their normal deletion cycle completes, or may be retained where required to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or demonstrate that the request was handled correctly.

Deleting the App from your device alone does not delete your cloud profile. Account deletion also does not cancel an Apple or Google subscription or remove transaction records controlled independently by those app stores; manage subscriptions separately through the relevant store account.
